In a grand celebration that symbolised a cultural fusion between Nigeria and Tanzania, Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo, was traditionally joined in marriage to her Tanzanian partner, Juma Jux, in Lagos on Thursday. The ceremony marked not only the union of two individuals but also the coming together of two nations through love, tradition, and family ties.
The event, which took place on Thursday, attracted several high-profile personalities from the Nigerian entertainment industry and generated considerable buzz across social media platforms. It followed the couple’s earlier customary wedding, which was held in Tanzania in February.
Among the notable guests in attendance were Nollywood stars Mercy Aigbe, Destiny Etiko, and Toyin Abraham, who actively participated in the celebration. The ceremony also featured a special appearance by legendary 83-year-old Juju maestro, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, who thrilled the audience with his presence.
The couple appeared in matching traditional attire for the Nigerian celebration. Priscilla was adorned in a regal purple asooke blouse paired with an elaborate, sequinned skirt. Her look was completed with a purple gele and a matching ipele, radiating elegance. Juma Jux complemented her appearance in a royal purple agbada with orange and gold accents, a blue cap, and a symbolic staff topped with a carved map of Africa.

The bridal party added further vibrancy, with groomsmen dressed in pink agbadas and bridesmaids in matching pink outfits, complete with gele headwraps. Video clips circulating online captured highlights of the traditional rites, set against a tastefully decorated backdrop that exuded a dreamy ambience.
Prior to the Lagos celebration, members of Jux’s family were seen arriving in Nigeria in anticipation of the festivities. In a pre-wedding interview with BellaNaija Weddings, the 35-year-old Tanzanian singer expressed his happiness:
“It’s exciting — a dream come true. From the first day I met Priscilla, I knew she was an amazing soul… I couldn’t wait to put a ring on her hand.”
Priscilla’s mother, Iyabo Ojo, also spoke positively about her daughter’s choice, stating,
“I knew Juma was the one, seeing how intentional he is about family. I always hoped Priscilla would get married in her early 20s.”
In a heartwarming moment, Iyabo’s estranged husband, Ademidun Ojo, made an appearance at the event, warmly receiving guests and sharing a symbolic embrace with his new son-in-law. Despite their separation, both parents came together in coordinated outfits to support their daughter, with a touching video showing them dancing side by side.
The traditional wedding followed a private introduction ceremony in Tanzania and a civil wedding attended by celebrities such as Toyin Abraham, Chioma Good Hair, and Enioluwa. Just before Valentine’s Day, Jux proposed again, this time with a more elaborate ring, in a romantic moment that was shared online.
Juma Jux, who started his music career at 16 and signed with A.M. Records in 2008, is known for hits like Sugua (with Diamond Platnumz), Juu (with Vanessa Mdee), and Regina (with Otile Brown). His collaborations span several African artistes including Gyakie, Bien, Zuchu, Joh Makini, and Marioo.
With their union now sealed in both Tanzanian and Nigerian traditions, the couple has been widely celebrated as a symbol of modern African love and cross-cultural unity.
